Briella’s Fifth Birthday

Hi, this gma and gpa had the time of our life with Briella. We had made prior arrangements to spend this past weekend together. It was fun filled- late night Friday, early morning breakfast and Moon Marble.

Friday evening was low key, just hanging out at the house visiting. Saturday began with breakfast at the Waffle House.

After breakfast we headed over to the Marble Moon Co. Several years ago when Erika and Adam were kids we took them to this same place. Thought it would be fun to take Brie- tradition! I was terrible and did not get as many images as I should have. Below are a few, and of course if you visit the link- it will have more for you to see. There is no charge to see the marble making demonstration. We did purchase a few marbles and a T-shirt on the way out.

The demonstration was full. Many people of different walks of life- one group (school kids) was from Korea. It was fun hearing the interactions between them and the person giving the demonstration!

And then my favorite part of the weekend- a mini photo shoot with Brie!

A truly fun weekend celebrating Briella’s fifth birthday. Now I’m already wanting to find more fun, free things to do with our grand-daughters! If you have any suggestions, please share. Thanks!

Thankful | Weekend

weekend burning

Hi, as I sit here reflecting on my weekend- I have so much to be thankful for. You may hear me say many times, “I really do not want to wish my life away- however, I live for the weekends”. Each morning my feet hit the floor, I know it’s going to be a good day. Having had the joy of chemo and glows several years ago, it gave me a new perspective on life. It will be several years before I retire. Until then, I go to work (a four letter word) each week Monday through Friday. That’s not bad, just something one must do. Now the weekends are different. How the time is spent is of my choosing- a huge difference. This is why I love to live for the weekend!

Friday as I was driving home there was still daylight. I was reminiscing of the times Kevin would be burning the grass around the house. So as I was pulling into our drive, I had a delightful surprise!

No specific reason I enjoy this time of the year. Maybe it’s the sound of the burning crackling grass and the smell along with longer daylight hours that brings such great pleasure. Once the car was parked, I joined Kevin at the fence to watch and listen. Once the fire burnt out, I turned to look up the drive to the barn and the view was simply beautiful. The weekend was off to an excellent beginning.

These past several months, Kevin has been working evenings and weekends. It’s been awhile since we have had a breakfast date. I was thankful to enjoy one this weekend. I highly recommend the Retro Diner. The pancake breakfast was fabulous!

What are you thankful for?

Take care.

Be My Valentine

valentine-project

Hi, I just felt like a kid once again. It’s been awhile (actually my first time) since I have made Valentine’s Day cards to pass out to my friendly co-workers. I am feeling happy!

valentine-card

Do you remember back in grade school the fun and anticipation when you made your Valentine’s box? How much fun it was to place your card into your friend’s box. And the anticipation of reading what card your friend gave you. Oh and don’t forget that each card had a piece of candy attached to it. I had forgotten this simple pleasure until I sat down to work on my project for this Valentine Day. My projects must be rather simple (or I typically don’t complete them!).

Using Lumapix Fotofusion, I first created my card. You may certainly use any photo design program. I decided to make the card size a 4×6 so that it could be printed as a standard picture. An Xacto knife, cutting board and the candy completed the supplies needed for my festive project.

I just love the dollar store (be careful- some items are less expensive at Wal-Mart). Fourteen suckers were only a buck. The pics were only 19 cents a piece. A rather inexpensive project which brought great memories back. Well worth it. Now the fun anticipation to pass them out on the 14th!

When was the last time you made Valentine Day cards to pass out to friends?

Off to work I go, until next time-
Take care.
