My grandmother went to stay with grandpa Valentine’s Day – February 14, 2014. Love endures. Back early in February I asked my dad if he would ride with me to visit grandma. Sure he replied. Grandma had taken a turn for the not too well and I knew if I wanted to see her, it should be soon. We headed out on Thursday morning, visiting with grandma early evening.

Her hair just done with her make up on, she was beautiful! We asked many questions, reminiscing of her and grandpa’s early years. She could recall the address of her home some 68 years past. We had a wonderful visit. That evening her wish came true- she went to sleep.

Bittersweet. At her funeral, I was blessed to spend time with family who live states apart. Some it had been years since I had seen them last. We shared laughs and tears. A time I will treasure.

A Short Engelken Wedding!

My niece married a delightful young man- Paul, over the Labor Day weekend. Usually this time of year is hot. The day was beautiful; could not have asked for a better day! The celebration took place at Melvern Lake.

Of the weddings I have had the pleasure to photograph, I appreciate the groom NOT messing up the bride when it’s time for the cake table event. This in my opinion is not very nice. However- this one time has been an exception to my personal rule. Paul did smash cake into Becky’s face; but not bad.

The crowd cheered for him to eat the cake. AND he did!

Typically when I photograph this pose, it’s the bridesmaids who straighten out the train. Well the “ladies” were no where to be found. So I asked the men to assist. I just had to snap the image!

The Engelken Family Reunion 2013

August 31, 2013 was a fun filled day with eleven Engelken siblings. We met in Seneca, KS for food, games and chatter. Kevin and I along with our daughter and grand-daughter arrived rather early. We took a tour of the scenic town of Seneca. Should you ever pass through- the park is very interesting. The highlights are shown in the images below.

From the park, we went to the main street in town. Here are some images of what we saw during our downtown stroll.

After our stroll we made our way to Valentino’s….
