Snack Time

Snack Time for Briella!

The simple things in life have the most meaning in the years to come. Here are a series of images taken while Briella was eating her morning snack- a serving of peaches in syrup. OH how she loves the syrup! Seeing her little fingers and hand holding the container and feeding herself is priceless.

Briella, her parents and I went to Lake Shawnee for Briella’s photo session a few days ago. Once finished taking pictures, it was snack time. Plus this gave me- grandma, the opportunity to sit and relax for a bit. It’s tiring chasing after a toddler! As I was sitting I was watching Brie. How cute to see her little fingers grab at the peach pieces, then placing it into her little mouth. Grabbing the camera, I began taking these images to remember this snack time forever!

Aunt Phyllis Visits Kansas!

Phyllis visits Kansas

Tuesday- June 18, 2013 was not a usual day……

Aunt Phyllis, Jeff and their RV came to Kansas- specifically my folks house. What fun we had! Phyllis and Jeff arrived in the afternoon. After my shift ended I drove straight to the house. Erika’s family joined us at 6 pm for dinner. Dad did his famous roast chicken (in cast iron skillets) on the grill. Mom made bean salad and potatoe casserole. Erika made her fabulous deviled eggs. The eggs were farm fresh from our chickens! This fall Erika will have her own farm fresh eggs. Dessert was strawberry short cake with homemade ice cream. Yum……

The above image is all of us sitting at the dinning room table. This was my first time meeting Jeff. He’s number one with me (ha Jeff!). After visiting late into the night I spent the night and left for work Wednesday morning.

Wednesday evening I again went to see Phyllis. We went to dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse. The food was wonderful! What I thought was amusing, an outsider looking at us had to laugh at our table while we were reading the menu. Each of us were wearing spectacles! Yes, even I had to put on reading glasses.

Father’s Day Weekend with 3 generations of dad’s!

3 Generations of Fathers

Let me first say, Father’s Day weekend was fun! Saturday I was able to spend the morning with my daughter, son-in-law and Briella. We went to the park and took lovely images of Brie in her pretty blue dress (previous post). Sunday began at 8:00 am at the local TSC store.

My daughter and husband have for many years gone to bird shows- I am not up on the technical terms so bare with me. Every third Sunday TSC hosts a swap meet for small livestock- chickens, ducks, turkeys, rabbits. It was amazing because chickens are not just chickens- there are many different breeds and these people know them all!

Briella was not the happiest camper. Her gums were tender with the last tooth cutting through. But when Erika brought the little rabbit over for Briella to see, she soon brightened up and was thrilled with “Bubble”. Oh how she got excited and began saying bubble repeatedly. According to Erika, Briella was referring to the cartoon, Bubble Guppies. And that was how the rabbit got her name!

After the swap meet we went back to Erika and Shaune’s home where my folks came over for dinner. Shaune smoked brisket and it was delicious! Homemade ice cream and chocolate cake was for dessert. Yum.
