Got Snow? | 12 inches of it!

Northeast Kansas experienced a snowfall beginning Tuesday morning ending Wednesday evening resulting in 12 to 13 inches of snow. Winds caused drifting in areas. Schools and businesses were closed both days.

Lots of Snow

It was Wednesday- Feb 6, 2014 that I had the opportunity to give my new Honda AWD a go. And she sure went! Well I did have a bit of moment. In the bottom left image above, my husband moved my car to the yard. Snow drifts blocked the Honda in the drive way. By parking the Honda in the yard, I had a better chance of picking up momentum that I would need to make it out to the black top. The top left image is the view left of driveway. The top right image is right of drive way. Normally I turn left, however the drifts were greater to the left. As I gave the Honda gas, I pulled out and made it just around the corner. The snow was tall enough that the bottom of vehicle was pushing snow and eventually I had to stop. Walked back to house for the shovel. Dug out from under the wheels and proceeded to drive. We made it through. My last car would have never even made it out of the driveway. I really like my new Honda!

End of January | Project 52

Taking images for the 365 project is proving a bit more difficult than I imagined. Therefore I will change the project to 52. We will see if this challenge is more reasonable with my schedule.

Avon’s moisture therapy works the best for my very dry hands this time of year. It’s in my bag at all times. For the black bag I found it at Michaels. Tried looking for it on their website, but to no avail couldn’t. Next to the scrapbooking machines, Michaels has a bag area. It was in this section it was kept.

One evening I had the pleasure of picking my grand daughter up from daycare. Until now it never occurred to me to take an image of the daycare provider. Not once when my children were growing up did I take a picture and there are no pictures of me with my provider. Well I made sure we got one of Brie with Judy! I do not know the other girl’s name- that will be up to my daughter to remember.

The other images at OReilly’s- it’s fun taking pictures. Even though people say, “I don’t take good images or I don’t look good” they enjoy seeing them. Not once when I have shown the images to the subjects have they not smiled. LaNae wanted to have the product in hand. I teased her about being on the OReilly’s Price is Right. Fun memories to have!

Now that I have my new g’ma car, I try to find ways to cut back not cut out. One of these cut backs is nail care. I would have acrylic nails filled once a month. That’s a luxury I did not want to give up. So instead I went and purchased supplies- the UV Light and Gel polish for beautiful nails done in the comfort of my own home.

The January 1 sign I posted about earlier. It was suggested that I do not crop into the image. Leave it zoomed out enough to see the trees, indicating the time of year. So here it is again zoomed out with the signs of the rest of the month.

First Week | Project 365

project 365 week 1
Project 365 Week 1

It’s already been a challenge taking an image a day….

Early this week I posted the gasoline sign; which I will do every week throughout 2014. Sunday while I was working in my office my husband was in the kitchen doing dishes and rearranging the counter. It looks awesome. It was a picture moment! Taking this picture created many feelings. First I realized I never have taken a picture of my kitchen. We have lived in our house for 23 years. Then after taking the initial kitchen picture I focused on my canister set (upper middle image). I know the blue is very outdated, BUT I just love the blue! Secondly I have an image now of one of my winter past time- the Mr. Coffee on with hot water. In the original image I can see the red, on light button! We use the hot water for hot chocolate, hot apple cider and/or instant oatmeal. The pot is on most of the winter. Nothing is better (in winter) than sitting in front of the wood stove with a cup of hot chocolate!

Earlier in the week my tire sensor light kept coming on even after calibrating it. I made a service call for Honda to check the sensor. Over the phone they suggested I look at the recommended tire pressure amount. It’s located on the driver side just inside the door- not on the door but the vehicle itself. I never realized this information was even there. So for you folks who never knew, this is what it looks like on a Honda CR-V (upper right image).

It amazes me every day how I am reminded of our Good Lord and how he reaches out to us. I have experienced too many “miracles” before, during and after my cancer treatments to not believe. On this one day at one of my many jobs, a customer walks into the store. He offers me a brochure (bottom right image). Okay my eyes roll- Jehovah’s Witnesses. After he left, I actually skimmed through the information. It spoke of morale values. What’s wrong with this? Nothing in my opinion. The Ten Commandments are valued and followed by Christian beliefs. For one to promote honor and honesty, why should I “roll my eyes”. No, the Good Lord that day was telling me to keep an open mind and heart. I just had to take a picture of my reminder regardless of who had delivered it.
