I’ll Take That One

I’ll Take That One- rather my daughter did.

So many times we look for the perfect picture- smiling, looking at the camera, body positioned perfect, everything juuuuust right. This however, is not always the best picture. The purpose of a picture is to remember a certain point in time- maybe your wedding, or you graduating, a certain point in your family’s journey, or a special vacation. Sometimes, a photograph that captures that specific point in time perfectly is one that is off-center, or one that you are looking away and laughing. These pictures can be perfect without being posed! The most important aspect sometimes is the memory, and the feeling that one picture can bring with it.

As I am packing, getting ready for our move I ran across this image tucked in a drawer. I do not have the original file and as you can tell, there was dust on the picture. Quickly brushed off as much dust as I could and scanned into the computer. Did a small amount of fix up to the image. Erika was on her senior class spring break trip. It was during this trip she took this image- a selfie. One of my absolute favorites of her. This image to me resembles the strong beautiful person she is today. I firmly believe this was at the point my daughter was comfortable with “not being part of the group”.

Do you have one of these images that is amoung your favorites?

June 27, 2016

Hi, June has just flown by just as the first half of 2016. Again- I must say so much is going on. First you will notice a bit of difference to gmasDiary. It was decided to switch to a responsive website. The basics have been completed I will just need to tweak the template. Next is photography sessions.

Last week I had the fun opportunity to photograph a cute young couple- Paige and Sean.

Paige and Sean

It was a nice warm evening. Nice being the evening was only 90 degrees! July sessions are just plan hot- temperatures reaching upper 90’s with 100+ heat index. Our session was very nice!

With the heat comes mosquito’s and chiggers. Sean was adorable; taking precautions Paige was sprayed with the bug repellent.

This next week I will be preparing for our family’s get together for the Fourth of July holiday. We have invited our whole family to join us at our home and I am so excited. Having everyone together at the same time is priceless!

Wishing you a safe, fun and exciting holiday weekend- Take Care.

Hot Tub or the Pool?

pool

Hi, I hope all is well with you. My husband and I have been busy these past several months. Working on the yard and cleaning a pool. Everyone has told me that pools needed cleaning each day. What a true statement!

We bought this wonderful old farm house. Kevin and I would never have dreamed to put in a pool or a hot tub, however- both of these was existing and what a perk! We are thinking the previous owners did not winterize the system last fall. When the cover was removed the water was not pretty to say the least. And with us being a new pool owner, we have learned a lot.

We began with the hot tub. Setting it up and getting it running went rather smooth. I have decided I like it much better on cooler evenings rather than 95 degree days. Just waiting to set in it during a snowfall!

The pool system is Copper Ionization. This system is chemical free- mostly. Well, we thought it was completely chemical free. When the cover was removed and the system turned on, the pool was not turning the sparkly blue pools are supposed to be. We went to the dealer who installed the system and they assisted us with all the chemicals to shock the pool. Two days later it was sparkling. Every day I skim the top of the water and every other day I brush the sides and bottom. I should vacuum the floor more, but with our work schedule- I have been vacuuming about twice a week.

When you are standing on the patio to the right of the hot tub, the view looking out is beautiful. See the red mulch- that was another project we worked on. What a difference it made too.

Okay, same spot on porch but looking to the right (West) you will see the barn. Kevin sure enjoys this! Note the mulch again.

Seems like there is so much to do and not enough time in the day. I certainly enjoy the weekends.

Have you ever gotten something that you would have never set out to get, but it was included with your purchase? If so, what was it and could you do without it now?

Take care.
