Visiting Phoenix

Hi, I had the time of my life while visiting family in Arizona. This trip was much needed. My Auntie P invited me to come stay with her. She asked me how long I wanted to stay. Hmm…..I was thinking, how long could I stay before my welcome wore out?! 🙂 Hesitantly I requested three full days. My Aunt said okay and the trip was a total of 5 days- day 1 travel, three days in AZ and the fifth day travel home. Her home is best described as a resort- no kidding!

This is the beautiful room where I spent four nights resting peacefully!

And the pool/hot tub was gorgeous.

Phyllis and Jeff kept me busy the whole time. Several times they asked what I wanted to do or see. Just being there, away from my everyday normal life was entertaining. The main souvenir I wanted from this adventure was a sweatshirt and a silver ring. Of course all the many images I took would be a treasure as well.

When I think of this trip, I will remember the quality time I shared with my Aunt Phyllis and Jeff in Phoenix and all the cactus. So many everywhere. I had no idea. I truly had the time of my life- thank you Aunt P!

Getting Excited!

exciting bed

Hi, I am getting real excited for two reasons. At the end of this month I am planning a trip to visit my aunt. Many reasons for the excitement: seeing my aunt; going somewhere I have never been and flying! This trip was planned last November. At that time the end of February seemed a long way out. Next week I’ll start planning on what to pack- Arizona weather will be much nicer than Kansas weather!

My next source of excitement is so surreal. Almost afraid to type it out- do not wish to jinx it. Kevin and I will be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary this summer. Wow- exciting, but this is not what I was referring to when I said “jinx” :). This week we have an appointment with the bank to begin the process of buying a new to us home.

Old Farm House

It’s an old farm house- electrical and structural rennovations were recently updated. When Kevin goes to check on his girls, this is where they are. He has been leasing the ground for our cattle for the past several years. The current homeowners are retiring and have decided to move south. I am having fun looking on Pinterest for creative ideas for storage and decorating. Now when I see bookshelves I have new inspirations.

We will have three spare bedrooms: one guestroom; one office/spare room and the smallest of the three will be made into a changing room/closest. I have been crawling the internet for ideas. Pretty much decided for the office/spare room the bed base will be made from bookshelves.

What I am not looking forward to is the actual move. Twenty six years of stuff to sort through- purging!

Where and how does one even begin? Post your comment below- suggestions welcomed!

Waffle House Date

waffle wash

Hi, I just had another fun date with hubby…….

Waffle House

Kevin wakes up each morning early. Sunday’s are no different. This Sunday he had to run by his work to lay blankets over concrete just poured the day before. As usual Kevin came in the room to kiss me goodbye. I asked if I could tag along. Surprisingly he said yes. One of the quickest mornings I got ready!

First had to get gas. Next off to wash his truck. Kevin does not like his picture taken. So if I do take one, I have to be creative or sneaky- take your pick.

Another surprise, as we were approaching the waffle house; he pulled in. Breakfast was delicious. While Kevin was pulling the blankets over the concrete he instructed me to now walk on the newly poured pathway. My shoes had just enough heel to indent into the surface.

waffle church

It’s just been this past year that I have gone with Kevin to his job site. Now with the kids out of the house and it’s just me and Kevin, we are doing more together. Not so much as the dates when we were younger as just spending time together, quality time. I can see why these are called the Golden Years.

The images above are amazing compared to my first visit. The steeple was on the original portion of the church. It was moved during the addition remodel. The other images are of the portion of the remodel from out of the ground. During Christmas there was no roof and the floor was gravel. No doors were in place and no windows- just plastic hanging. I made another request for Kevin to take me when it has been completed.

What did you do on your most recent date?
